Chapter 8: I Need Do No thing

We cannot find God in noise or agitation. Nature: trees, flowers and the grass grow in silence. The stars, the moon and the sun move in silence. What is essential is not what we say but what God tells us and what He tells others through us. In silence He listens to us, in silence He speaks to our souls. Take some time out to be silent with Him." — Mother Theresa, No Greater Love

For those who are awake, the cosmos is one. —Heraclitus, Greek Philosopher,
(c. 535-475 BC)

If at any time you have had a momentary experience in which you felt compassion, when you felt yourself as part of someone else, then you have experienced being at one with another. Notice that in that moment, you did not feel or see yourself as separate or distant or removed.

This often happens when you first see or hold your newborn child or when you fall in love. You feel that you are melting into another's body, and you just cannot get enough of that closeness. Or you meet someone and recognize him or her as a soul mate or as a twin soul who seems to mirror all of who you are, and you are instantly comfortable and connected. You meet someone you feel you've known for lifetimes. The connection feels that it exists at a deep soul level. You cannot explain it. You simply feel at one with.

It is said that in that moment, whether you are aware of it or not, you are hearing the Voice of God, Life, Cosmic Energy—or call it whatever works for you.

There are no prerequisites for experiencing oneness. You don't even need to believe in a god or higher being. In that moment you have become aware that you are part of something greater. You would give your life for this newborn child, for your family, for this friend or this new love in your life, or for a cause that touches your soul.

In that brief space of time you join the many others who in their hearts have felt that connection, that expansiveness. You have become part of something much larger than self. There is a vision of creativeness, a longing to do something real about making the world a safer place to be, a thirst to quiet the chaos all around us, a hunger for inner peace.

And now, something seems to be happening. Today more than ever, there is a pull, even a sense of urgency to be part of something bigger, something that calls for a movement of humanity in creating the change that will bring us peace. There is a change in the air, and you are part of that change. You are the new air that we breathe.
